Colouring of foal

Hey,
I had in my mind that with the hom Cr gene that this guy would be a much paler colour. Just wondering how come he's a deeper colour or is this what a perlino looks like.
I've been away from the game for a while so trying to get my bearings again XD

The Gray gene is hyperpigmenting him ; if he didnt have it he would indeed be Much Lighter :)
