B's and Reds can easily throw Yellows at the bottom end of their range. Even A's and Blues can throw as low as C/Yellow. Exceptional producers still have the potential to throw offspring worse than them as well as better than them. If you're not using fully pasture-boosted mares or getting the 15-day equivalent boost by breeding AI, it's much more likely that you'll be seeing the low end of the range.

That foal would still make a good show horse.
