Is white factor hereditary?
-
will horses with extensive white throw colts with extensive white?
or is it chance ?
I ask this question because apparently it is not a genePost edited by Fiddler at 2022-12-05 09:50:25 -
It is not a gene with direct inheritance but is influenced by the parent's WF.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Yes and no. Much like ability, White Factor can basically be passed on, but it has a range. For example, a stud with extensive white factor can throw foals with extensive white factor, but his foals might also end up with less white factor than him. The mare's white factor also impacts the possible range for the foal to fall within. So, it does seem a bit random, but I imagine it's one of those things that has hidden numbers determining the possible range for each pairing.Post edited by MackZ at 2022-12-05 09:57:43
