Is an SBA-passed regular create as good a breeder as a perfect foundation? ANSWERED
-
I'm just wondering because I need to collect a lot of mares of a particular color and the foundation rescue has been a little slow to fill up. Can I assume my SBA-passed creates are about as good as perfect foundations breeding ability wise? If not, how big might that margin be? Thanks!Post edited by Cavalynn at 2022-12-21 17:30:13

you are comparing 10.4 reds to 10.4 reds? (for example)
-
10.4 is an Exceptional Foundation ; Regular creates are usually Yellow papered and top out at 9.9
-
so you are comparing yellows to yellows. Good question.. I wonder about that vocabulary too
-
Yep, I'm wondering about the breeding ability of regular creates within the yellow paper range. If a regular create or color herd helper create passes SBA, is the breeding ability as good as the breeding ability of a perfect foundation? Comparison testing has a margin for "about as good as" so it doesn't guarantee that a horse is exactly as good as another. So far, I've never had a yellow-papered foundation comparison test worse than a perfect foundation, but that doesn't mean that they're exactly as good. I'm mostly wondering if I should be greatly preferring my mares that are proven to be perfect foundation either by herd helper or by getting picked up by the foundation rescue, or if SBA-passed creates are just as good as breeders. PT doesn't matter to me in this case at all.Thanked by 1Fiddler

all the horses in Foundation Rescue are "perfect" foundations ; and yellow paper ; the only difference between them IS the PT score ; "regular" creates will have a range of PT scores. Perfect Creates wont
-
@annismyrph I know that the foundation rescue is all perfect foundations. But there's a range within yellow papered just like any paper level and I'm just wondering if there's a way to tell if a yellow-papered regular create is as good as a breeder as a perfect foundation. Is SBA a strict enough measure? Or is it possible an SBA-passed regular create could be worse than a perfect foundation, breeding ability wise?
-
the only way to know i d guess is to comp test them againt a "Perfect"
-
So far the few I've done have tested "as good as" but there's still a margin of slightly superior or slightly worse than with aga results.

A perfect foundation is perfect. Normal creates might be perfect but there is no way to prove they are. Functionally they might as well be though.Need to contact me? Read this first.
