Won't let me bid on auction horses
-
Hi,
The system is not allowing me to bid on horses. It is saying I cannot bid on horses from associated accounts without an upgrade.
I only have one account on the Bluegrass server.
ThanksPost edited by Ammit at 2022-12-22 15:07:23 -
This is from the wiki:Why does it say my account is associated with someone else's account?
https://wiki.huntandjump.com/link/72#bkmrk-internet-service-pro
Internet Service Providers are given a block of numbers called IP addresses that are rotated for their users. Each time a user logs on, their computer is given one of those IP addresses. When that user ends the session, that IP address is released for use by another user. So, if your Internet Service Provider is a large, national one, you can become associated with another user somewhere else because you both have been randomly assigned the same IP address at some time.
Unless you are paying to have a stable IP address, you will frequently have a different one each time you log into the Internet.
There may be a similar mechanism involved with phone access to the internet. If both you and the other player have the same cell phone carrier and they use a rotating block of these numbers, you could easily have become suddenly, randomly associated.Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

No. I think it may be associated with the gift exchange. I just realized that can bid on horses in other stables...just not a particular one. The gift exchange is the only thing I can think of.

It wouldn't have anything to do with GE. Do you have enough hbs to place bids? You can only place as many bids as you can afford. Can you post links to horses you are having issues with?Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

You are showing you are associated account with Bluchrystals and Lytton948.
Assuming you are trying to bid on a horse in auction from Blu as Lytton hasn't logged in since around Thanksgiving time.
It's because the game's system thinks you two are acquaintances as at one time or another, you were in the same area as each other or have the same internet provider and ended up with a block IP number as Hayes explained. Unless you have a premium upgrade, there's no way to bid/buy a horse from an associated account. Why does it say my account is associated with someone elses accout?

Do you live in Ohio? :-B

I've had the same thing happen, and it's for the same reason that Hayes and Khaos have already posted. I play on a tablet using data and/or wifi, and I live in a tourist town. So lots of people use the wifi I sometimes connect to(at vacation houses I clean), and I use AT&T data, so a lot of different people use that as well. I have never met the people who own the accounts to which I'm associated, but at some point, we've likely used the same wifi or had the same IP address from a block of numbers that AT&T assigns.Post edited by MackZ at 2022-12-22 17:20:14

Thank you. I was having tunnel vision and thinking literally for anyone actually linked to me somehow. It makes sense now that I am not thinking literally.
