Question About Breeders Clubs
-
I wasn’t too sure how to go about this question so I posted it public, apologizes in advance if that is the incorrect path. With the breeding season almost over I went to check the placing of some horses I had in clubs and noticed a lot of them get pushed out, which happens. But something I noticed that doesn’t seem fair is the highest PT of the year category. A handful of clubs are scattered by pt and breeder, but a handful of others are dominated by a single player that are so marginally farther ahead the rest of us can’t catch up - these are the horses with 13.8 through to 14.2 (with the breeding cap around this point a lot of them are boosted & untested). 13.8 is possible for some of us though very very difficult even with the right formula (parents, lineage, testing v not testing, etc). Most importantly, with my question in mind it is also important to acknowledge the accomplishments of these breeders for their hard work. The few that are published have done amazing work creating some very beautiful pixel pony artwork.
My question is, is would there ever be a possibility of a new category in the clubs to help share the growth & accomplishments of all? Is there a way to seperate the lined projects such as 6g plus from the 5g to 2g groups?
Have a safe & healthy holiday,
Bravo -
I believe at some point I read that the Era clubs exist for this reason. A lot of the primary clubs are difficult to compete in many categories due to favoring established lines and boosting, but the Era clubs level the playing field.Starstruck2 on Bluegrass and Forest

This is exactly why era clubs are in the game! You can already have a level playing field if you wish. Also, I am looking into creating stallion futurities soon which will change up the game a bit as well. :)Post edited by Ammit at 2022-12-24 05:08:31Need to contact me? Read this first.

I meant the other clubs, like Riding Horse or Bay&Brown; that there’s colored clubs completely overtaken by 13.8(+) foals.
The stallion futurities sounds really interesting as well, I don’t know too much about them. -
That is what the eras are for. You already have the option to compete without foals like that. If you want to compete with all horses of that color group you compete with all horses of that color group. If you want limited ability ranges you need to compete in the clubs designed for that. You have already been provided with what you are asking for. It is up to you to decide if you want to take it up or not.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Eras work by giving everyone the same starting place. Then as a group members compete with each other to show off their progress for their lines. The era grows generation by generation. It already does exactly what you asked for in your first post. :) The new era just started this month. It is the perfect time to start a new era project.Post edited by Ammit at 2022-12-24 05:51:23Need to contact me? Read this first.

Does anyone have more resources on how eras work? I know its inheritable but what about foundations, how are they chosen?
Like these two foundations. The too one, born late November, is an Era 11. The second colt born mid Dec is an Era 13. The final colt was born today and he's an Era14.
Found1: https://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=16833210
Found2: https://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=16938254
Found 3: https://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=17012271
The Era page says every June 1st & Dec 1st a new era begins, but the small snippit in the help guides say a new era starts when a certain number if horses are bred or created; which is true or are they both true? Is that why a colt from late November & mid December have a two era jump?
Thank you for your continue knowledge! -
New eras start Jun 1st and Dec 1st now (the other text is out of date). Foundations are created in their own era. Exceptional status and boosting push a horse to a lower era to keep eras fair.
If you compete against other horses of the same era you will always have a fair metric and competition against other breeders whose lines are the same age.
ETA: I think a lot of people don't understand eras and what they are for, and we need a good guide on them again.Post edited by Ammit at 2022-12-24 06:16:49Need to contact me? Read this first.

Ooh stallion futurities would be amazing!
@bravo52 the easy way I remember is that c/yellow foundations will be the current era, B/red papered foundations are the previous era.Post edited by Starstruck2 at 2022-12-24 09:02:20Starstruck2 on Bluegrass and Forest

I wondered about why some creates go in the current Era and other creates go in a previous Era. Thank you for clearing that up!
