New auction rules
-
So if I set the starting bid on a 1 day auction for 5000 and no one buys it, what happens?
-
This is answered in the change log:
The barn page, horse page, and public auction page have been updated with new logic for the upcoming round-the-clock auctions. Each now has a "Starting Bid:" option that you can adjust from between 2,500 and 999,999hbs.
Any starting bid of 2,500 (or the lifetime payout for horses 10 and over) will automatically be placed by the auction bidder account. If your starting bid is more than the starting bidder is willing to pay, you will automatically make the starting bid. If your horse fails to receive any bids other than your starting bid it will simply not sell.
Please note that when entering the auction you will see "The auction will run for 1 day(s)." This is logic for the upcoming new auction schedule and can be ignored. All horses will still auction on the normal Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday schedule for the time being.Post edited by Ammit at 2023-01-23 06:58:08Need to contact me? Read this first.

It will go back to you and you will be charged and paid the 5000hbs. ...Unless it's a 10+ yo pointed foundation and that's the lifetime payout amount. Then it will go to the auction bidder.
-
If I just "auction" the horse for the "normal" 2500 will it still not sell if there are no bidders? Sorry am a bit confused by this change

Please let me know if that is unclear. I am never 100% sure if someone just missed where the answer was written or if it needs clarifying.Need to contact me? Read this first.

"bid of 2500 or lifetime payout will automatically be placed by the auction bidder,"
yeah since say, I put my filly up at 5000 it was not clear to me whether I would get 2500 or no sale and
"you will automatically make the starting bid" does that mean i'm going to bid on my horse?
that's confusing. -
Also, will there still be a regularly scheduled auction? It still benefits buyers and sellers to have a large group selling at the same time. I will have to put another horse up for auction to see if I missed something
-
You would bid 5000 on your own horse, so unless someone outbid you, the horse would go back to you and not sell. So a horse will never sell for less than the minimum bid you set, but if you set the minimum bid above what the game bidder is willing to pay (2500 or lifetime payout for horses 10+) the horse might not sell if no player bids.
-
Making the starting bid (if it's greater than the usual minimum) come from your own account is just a way to make sure people can't sell any horse for any price they want to the auction bidder. It'll naturally go back to you if no one else bids. It's kind of like setting a reserve.Thanked by 1Fiddler

Ok, i just put another horse up for auction. I can't control WHEN they are auctioned. i thought that was the point of the thing, that you could set the time of auction (I'd rather not)
-
You should open up the pages of the horses you have for auction and take a look at the bid history and compare them. I think you will understand once you look at the horses.Need to contact me? Read this first.

So yah, what @CLynnRose said, what this is really good for is that it acts like a reserve bid, is that it?
-
Fiddler - I think you may have not read the change log and are making assumptions about what this update is that are not accurate.

Yes. It is a reserve. You can sell your horse to the auction bidder OR put in a higher price. If you do it may not sell at all.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I did read the change log, I was confused by it. I think I'm clear now.Thanked by 1Ammit

It is just temporary until the full update is out, so I would not worry too much about trying to understand it. Once you use it I think it will make sense for you. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.

I've never noticed the change log before, great to see all those little and big changes that happen behind the scenes
-
So if you bid on your own horses starting bid if its higher than what the auction bidder is willing to bid, what happens if you try to play a horse up for auction at a price that you don't have on your account? so you just did a bunch of iv purchases and have 5k but place a horse for auction for 25k would you go into the negative to make the starting bid on your own horse?
-
Nothing happens. The horse just does not sell. This has been the case for almost as long as the auction has been in the game.Need to contact me? Read this first.
