It has to meet the rules as listed

To qualify for the futurity a stallion must have at least 10 offspring bred and owned by players other than the owner of the stallion.
Offspring can not be owned or bred by anyone who has ever owned the stallion.
Those offspring must be the same era as the stallion, and must be five years of age or less.
The total lifetime number of points won by the top ten offspring of each qualified stallion count towards his futurity standings.
The number shown next to the stallion name is the sum of the lifetime points earned by his top 10 offspring.
Stallions do not need to be entered in era clubs to qualify for the futurity.

Do the stallions and mares have to be even generations?

so if I want to use a era 11 stallion, I can use mares era 11,10, 9? And the foals will be 11?
