Appreciation post for archived horses
-
I've been thinking about my bootstrap stallion that passed a while ago. He was by far my most favorite horse I've ever owned in this game. I am still a little obsessed with him. I've kept a lot of fillies from this horse and try my best to keep his memory alive in my barn. When I bought Custom Comrade I had no idea just how much he would do for my bootstraps. I got my first 14pt horses from him. I didn't appreciate what he was capable of until the last year he could breed. I wasn't aware that he had been boosted, and I would auction his foals because they wouldn't pass BA. I never checked out their pt scores and just sent them off since I was worried about producing BA approved bootstrap mares and I didn't have hbs to spare pt testing. I was too broke to do a lot of AI breeding, so I wasn't able to appreciate him in all that he could've produced for me. There was even a couple months where I didn't use him at all since my other stallions who weren't boosted were producing approved foals. I feel like a fool, but I realize now I just wasn't knowledgeable enough to figure out what was going on. He'll forever be a part of my lines, and live in memory through his offspring and so on.
Custom Comrade
I would love to see other's favorite archived horses, and share something about them. -
I thought of two horses, initially. The first one was my first GMT project, but it seems like he has been wiped off the game :( But the second one is still here. He was my first satin foundation, from back when you had to get it from someone who already had it. He was a gift from a dear friend that has since quitted, and was a clone of someone elses, but I cant seem to remember who. He might not look super blingy now, but this guy was the epitome of shiny back then :x

My very first GM horse, the one responsible for my phantom obsession. She won a really nice contest for me the first month I started playing.

Kestrel
Kestrel was the very first horse I created the day I started playing this game - 10th November 2009! The advice for new players at that time was to create 5 mares, but I only made 4 as I didn't know if I would need money (hbs) for anything else. I entered my mares in shows twice a week and after a while I noticed that Kestrel wasn't progressing up the classes like my others, and I didn't know why. It was some months later, when I decided to pay for a Basic Upgrade, that I was able to find why. Her PT score was only 2.2. However, she gave me some great foals, both breeding stock and show horses, and I used to use her to prove to people that there was nothing wrong with a low PT score. I still have her descendants and am trying to keep her line going. I am sentimentally attached to her even though she's not real! :) -
This was one of my very first GMT projects, and one of my most emotionally attached to horses.

@Maribo I'm such a sucker for dominant white, and I bet that kp and satin made some beautiful foals.
@Tzano her name is perfect!
@WhiteValley my best foundation stallion I've ever owned has 0.40 pt. He produces pt scores consistently 10.00 and up. He taught me pt doesn't matter.
@Xzeina two copies S+ and pangare +, I love it! -
Quest
Quest was my very first horse ever created on h&j.
He was also named after the gray pony that was rescued by Days End Horse Rescue who I later found out was adopted by my former Coworker, Jenny -
@KhaosAcres that's pretty cool

0sKs Trick or Treat RS KP
This guy was my first ever GMT project back in 2015. I don't know why I thought one copy of KP was a good idea :PPost edited by Kristin at 2023-02-12 12:09:31 -
Kahar Al Jabal DB
This guy was my favorite stallion for a long time. I've always loved pearl horses, so I got attached pretty quickly (in hindsight, I wish I'd kept his roan, though).# 54596 on Forest, # 10230 on Mesa
Breeds horses with emphasis on DP, pearl and champagne.

This was one of my favorite broodmares, and I still use her as a benchmark for the quality of my cap mares(by testing them against her AGA filly). I wish I could have gotten more foals and eggs from her. I love the bootstrap horses I've gotten from @Silverstar. They're always of a very high quality, and end up being great producers!

Oh man I have a notes file dedicated to the archive links to all my old foundations! I went on a search last year and followed back lineages ect to find them all.
Here's a guy I was really proud of back in 2011, I scraped and saved (money making for me in 2011 mostly came from offsite referrals to the game lol) and made him in the old HAJ university, where you could "build" your own foundation using IVs. I had enough to select EE aa, one copy of dun, and hom silver (at the time I was breeding silver grullos) and all the other genes set to random. He ended up getting grey, but I didn't have the money to take it off (if that was even possible, I can't remember). This was before we had a huge amount of herd helpers to choose from so having a foundation like this was super shiny for me!

and I can't see a post about appreciating archived horses without mentioning the foundation stud that kickstarted my entire liver line, which is now in the 12th generation, produced the first 15.3PT on bluegrass and are smashing the leaderboards. The one and only, Prometheus (aka Theo <3 )<br />

My old first special guy from 2011! One of the first 10 W4 (now Kit M) foundations in the whole game. I had some players with old straws send them to me on this account after I lost my first from not logging in and he’s still in my lines to this day!

@MackZ I love introducing other breeder's bootstraps to mine. I haven't invested as much time as some others have, so I like to add BA outside lines to match qualities.
@SilverCreekFarm that's awesome! Love seeing that the hard work paid off for you.
@SharayahStables I love that about this community, everyone always tries their best to help one another.Post edited by BarnRaised at 2023-02-14 07:51:08
