Breeding 2nd gens from Red vs Yellow foundations
-
I used to only breed B/Red foundations, so had pretty clear cull criteria.
Now I've added a herd of C/Yellow foundations, and I'm unclear how to compare their foals.
With my original herd of red foundations, I got a good mix of Blue and Red 2G's, so I kept herds of A/B stallions to breed them to.
Now with the yellow mares foals, I'm only keeping red 2G foals.
I had been breeding these red 2G mares (from Yellow foundations) to the B stallions (from red foundations), since they have much higher PT, but I'm wondering if I should be breeding these mares to B stallions out of yellow mares for the best chance of 3G foals passing SBA?
I may be overthinking things at this point? -
Exceptionals count as about 1 generation better than non-exceptional horses. So just count them as one generation less when making comparisons.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

So basically, the breeding ability of a Red 2G from exceptional parents will (generally) surpass the breeding ability of a Red 2G from non-exceptional parents?
So I *should* be saving some of those B stallions from non-exceptional parents in order to keep their breeding ability closer to the similar mares in order to be most likely to pass SBA?Thanked by 1Fiddler
