I really only started looking at cloning this week after someone brought up the cost.

I have quite a few "boring color" horses that got papered and PT'd at the top of my standards that only cost 1 IV to clone. They're older too, so I don't know if that has anything to do with the cost?

I hadn't previously considered using cloning to improve my herd, but I suppose if I spent a few IVs to clone my best horses, I may improve my breeding program.

But tell me how you've used it.

The cloning price is based only on the genetics of the horse. :)

Holy cow! I just cloned one of my high PT/bootstrap mares who is a 13.7 PT. Her foal clone got a 14.1! Officially my highest score yet!

I rarely clone - most of the time it is to make a copy of a fancy gmtd foundation for the Gift Exchange.

A few months ago I was thinking of cloning an older era GMT DFP2 stallion to bring his genes into era 14, as there wasn't much if any DFP2 in era 14 yet. It would have been pricy, (though turns out not nearly as pricy as I thought when I thought it was priced in GMTs) but then I remembered he wasn't bred by me, so I couldn't anyway. :P

I can picture using cloning either for cap stallions or old GMT foundie studs to make the same gene combo in the new era. Or maybe to clone a lined horse with a unique color to breed them together. I have one stallion with really interesting color and no mares of the same color to breed him with, so I might clone and then gender swap the baby. But then I'd still be waiting a few months to breed them... I wish we could clone a horse and have them pop out all fully grown and ready to go! :D

I have cloned to get “double boosted” foundations for a small project (boost a foundy, clone, boost the clone), and have had some pretty good luck with it, but it can get expensive. I’m not super keen on the price doubling after each clone, but it makes sense because the focus of the game is not tied up in cloning.

I had to put that in place because of people using the cloning system to pump out clones as a way to distribute fancy GMT genes on the cheap.

I jut did my first ever cloning!
This mare is 17 this season, and she is my favorite Snowflake mare for my KIT project.

Sooty is on the list to get patched. Just asking for patience from folks. Did I not just get tobiano fixed? ;)

ETA: There is no "old" brown. It is all the same. I didn't remove anything from the generator. I think it is just not kicking in the darkest version for some reason right now.
