Jenx has made another one for us! Let us know what you think about this Friesian Sporthorse. We are explicitly going for the modern lighter-bone version of the Friesian breed as this will be the medium/warmblood body.

Things of note: The mane and tail are super quick sketches just to give you an idea of the look. They are not final art. The muscle lines are just there as reference notes and will be changing.

  • Love it! Give it a long dramatic mane and forelock, and it’s perfect!
  • I think it looks good. While I'm sure others who are more in touch with the breed and standards may have
more to offer, from the outside looking in, I give it a A. :D Fantastic Jenx.

  • RedtailFoxFarm drama mane would be a later add-on. I already knew people would be asking for that. :D

  • This looks awesome! Being insanely nitpicky, I think the right hock is a little on the small side. The rear pasterns are also a little bit shorter than the front pasterns and maybe a tiny bit too vertical - needing a bit more "forward" slope. That being said it's also possible I just spent way too long staring at the image willing issues into existence!
  • That is the point we get to with these and why I just let you all tell me by community what looks wrong. Poor Jenx just draws the weird tall dogs I tell him to the best he can. :D

  • I love it! The only part that struck me as a little odd is the near back pastern. The front of the joint seems a little knobby and it seems to bend forward not quite where the natural joint would be, like it's broken just below the joint and bending forward sharply. Maybe the line of the front of the pastern should be a little smoother and longer?

Edit: As I look at it again, maybe the line of the mouth should be a little closer to the chin than the nose?

  • I'm so excited for new breeds <3. My only critique would be that the pasterns look too upright, and the artistic license of the fetlocks make them look swollen. Other than that, I think it should fit right in with the rest of the stylized breeds! Great job!
  • I am late to the party but the fetlocks/pasterns definitely don't look right, under the feathers it looks like the pasterns are extremely short and/or the hoof heals are super high. Especially noticeable in the back legs.

The right hock also doesn't look right, like it's missing the calcaneus.

  • Oooooooh are we going to be able to select an art type for our breeds?
  • Wow it looks great, it is so nice to see new horses being added. Thank you!
