For Era15 i decided to start a line of grey/black horses that appear dappled. This stallion so far has hom E , G, Sty, DP, Te1, sb2.

I would like to add more bling to him without adding a fantasy gene. I thought about adding S+ but dont think itll really show up on him. Gp needs to be brown or bay to show and kp will cover or further white out the dapples .

Anyone have any suggestions on what they think would look great on him? I do plan to adding satin to him.

With how little white he has, I’m not sure KP would cover too much and I don’t think it would white out the dapples further since those aren’t associated with the KIT genes. KP2 would make the current edges of white markings smudged and misty, which could be cool.

Nd1 would get you some subtle lightening on his coat. P+ would create a subtle brown tint on his nose and flanks.

Personally, I would add another copy of gr and be finished. Adding S+ certainly wouldn’t hurt anything though

P+ on black actually looks pretty neat in my opinion and ND1 can have some cool effects on black as well. You could always try adding Silver if you're going for more of a dappled look but he is looking pretty good so far!

I'm pretty sure adding another gr would reduce the amount of visible Grey though? Not sure how you feel about that

Grey reduction? Would slow his grey process and keep his dapples longer. He will end up white without it eventually.

I would definitely do another gray reduction, another ND1, hom sooty+, and hom pangare+. (Personally, I've found I'm just not as excited about the babies when they don't have S+. I made that mistake with my first platinum boy and eventually sold him because platinum and DP were the only fancy things he had.) As for markings, I would probably also add splash M and hom belton and maybe hom tobiano to help the belton spotting... but I'm a little addicted to that combo at the moment.

Ooo, pearl might even be an interesting choice since he has hyperpigmentation from the gray. I've been meaning to do a black pearl line but I keep having too many projects as it is. It would change his look a bit more, but maybe het pearl could add that bit of variety without overwhelming the line or overly changing his look?

If you're questioning it, in the gnt lab you can add the genes and then refund them if you don't like it. Licensed genes aren't available there right now, though.

@bluchrystals Splash M is a licensed gene and available in the lab. Actually, I just made this chart for the wiki a few days ago. Maybe it could be helpful in planning out what non-fantasy, lab-available genes would be good to add:

Hmm thanks guys! My goal is to have him resemble a chinchilla colored horse as close as possible but have some pop without fantasy. I think im gonna add another nd1 to him and see how p+ looks on him. I would just love to add diamond sparkle to this guy but know i wouldnt be able to use him for era breeding if i did that.
