How well does gray reduction work?

I've got G/G and gr/gr on some of my horses, and am wondering what they will look like in a few years. Would taking out one of the G's make the graying effect less? Anyone have an older horse with those genes I could look at? This is one of the horses:

have a look at this filly's pedigree page, her entire line is black G/G GR/GR hom gray and hom gray reduction, and each generation is older as they go back ect. makes a nice colour gradient to look at lol
