I haven't gotten email notifications from the forum for years, and I've been assuming gmail just wasn't letting them through. So I went into "edit my account" to see if I could use a different email just for notifications and saw that the game has my player number appended to my email address right before @gmail.com. I tried deleting that and saving it but when I open the dialogue box again it's still there. Is it supposed to be?

Also, Just today I changed my notification settings to send an email and give a popup when someone comments on my bookmarked discussions and then I bookmarked today's herd helper share thread so I could test my settings, but I haven't even gotten forum notifications for the new posts on that thread, let alone emails. I tried logging out of the forum and the game and back in again. It made no difference.

It might not have anything to do with it ; but you might want to try to clear your cache and shut down your computer and reboot it after you make and save the changes :)

Okay, I think I have this semi-solved now. When I bookmarked my own thread, I get a notification for a post on a bookmarked thread, but I didn't when I tried bookmarking the main herd helper share thread. I'm not sure why there should be a difference. Deleting the ID number from my email took the last time I tried it, I'm not sure why. I'm not even sure why it was there in the first place. I did clear cash and reboot right after I changed it, but it looked like it had taken before that too, so I'm not sure if that made a difference. Emails still never got through to gmail, so I switched and gave the forum a different email address and my test post got through to that in a email.

I'm still wondering why bookmarking the herd helper share thread doesn't give any notifications, in game or email?

It was there because emails are unique per forum registration and without them it is impossible or you to have more than one forum account.
