What would be the gentics of this horse?
  • this one here, what genetics would the horse need to be this color. i'm thinking it would need pearl for the shine, but don't know what else.

  • That’s Kambarbay. He’s tested as Perlino and he has the Akhal Teke sheen. He’s homozygous for Agouti.

Personally, I’d do a Hom sooty and DP Perlino with Satin. If you care more about the shade than matching the genetics, then a Smokey Cream with Hom sooty and DP would be fine too
  • Thank you!
  • Kambarbay! Nice sport Akhal Teke stallion. In real life he tested E/e A/A Cr/Cr. Because he's a Teke his hair follicles are hallow, giving you the Satin effect of the game.

But if you are trying to match game color to real life color, it's going to be hard with cream based horses. I'd say you need at least DP and Sooty and then maybe reroll till you get something you like. You'd have to see what kinda of DP and Sooty combos will give you the desired look.

Side note about Kambarbay, his color changes with the season. Also look how typey he was as a yearling https://www.akhalteke.ee/hobud/kambarbay.php
  • My boy has silver for the white mane/tail and Sunshine instead of cream, but he's got the satin shine.

  • He's dark for a perlino, so add some sooty/dp to get that shade. :)

  • Well, I've undone my gene modifications, so I can start from scratch.
  • What have I done wrong?

  • The champagne in addition to the hom cream is diluting the coat a lot.
  • Get rid of the champagne or get rid of the cream? I tried to copy bluchrystals' horse. They have Sun/Sun instead of Cream/Cream, but sun isn't one of the options.

  • You'd have to remove both champagnes. If you wanted to keep the champagne, it could be possible to darken the horse again by adding another DP, another sooty, and gray and gray reduction so it doesn't gray out.
  • Also, sunshine and snowdrop function as pearl, not cream.

  • Yes. Beautiful. Is there a way of putting a sheen on her like the AT horses have? I tried satin on one, but it didn't really work as well as the pearl did, and sun like the other horse has isn't one of the choices in the gmt lab. Not to mention doing a bunch of horses with satin would be awfully expensive. Thank you Ammit, it's easier for me to see a picture than paint a picture in my head from a written description.

  • The horse in your picture does not have the pearl gene. If you want pearl make pearl go with pearl but just know that is not what is going on with the horse in your photo.

  • Without Pearl, how else can I add the shine to the coat? I want it to look the same, not necessarily using the same genes, since the AT has the hollow hairs which I don't think we have available yet.
  • Satin is the hollow hair sheen.
  • Thank you. G7 Consult has satin, but it doesn't have the shine?
