I am not really sure if they can or not however a few years ago i had a second gen stallion who was a really good show horse and all the foals i had from him that wernt in pastures all were really good show horses too! I wasnt sure if i got really lucky or if it was something that could be passed down. I do however notice a trend with horses that do well in shows and have most foals who also do well and yes the higher the pt score the better they do because they train longer. But 2nd gen horses sometimes have that sweet spot for when they stop training that they land on for showing that they do well in and earn more points that way. However none of the foals will inherent any awards won by the parents.
