Why would a "Best of Bunch" (pasture) get neutered? Answered

    I am having this more than once. SBA neuters a horse, but I get the email for that horse saying it is the best of the bunch.

    "Best of" Doesn't neccessarily mean "Better than" a parent ; just s/he is the "best" foal in the pasture

    @annismyrph He did paper better than either parent though, which were fairly evenly matched, and he tested consistent so he wasn't altered for inconsistency.

    @OopsDotCom Are you sure he was neutered by breeding advice?

    Yes, I un neutered him then ran sba again to see if it was me who neutered him or sba.

    @OopsDotCom ; did you run "Reg" Breeding Advice prior to SBA?
    He is also Bootstrapped ; and his Sire papered Down from His Sire. That mare is not going to throw foals better than the sire becuase she is not as well bred as the sire is. The mare is also Bootstrapped.

    This horse was not altered by breeding advice.

    Grandparents are irrelevant for breeding advice.

    This horse is also two and would not have been your best of pasture horse for a pasture you just bred.

    I just tested this horse and the message is "Try breeding Gu 18324939, they don't look so bad!" either you altered this horse by mistake or you are confusing it with a different horse.
