Keeping Horses In Pasture
-
So I’ve tried to find a post about the benefits of keeping mares in pastures, but can’t seem to find anything. I’m wondering if I should put my mares in my pasture and keep them there, or keep them in the barn to show. What would the benefits of the pasture be? I saw something about a pasture bonus but I’m not quite sure what that means and how to get it.

Pastures give mares a breeding bonus after a certain amount of days. I would definitely like to be able to show them as well, but we can't as of yet.Craven Hill - 86081

They do train, they just don't show, which is what earns more points. Retired pasture mares can still finish as show horses and maybe do well on the leaderboards for points earned because they've been training all along.Post edited by Cavalynn at 2023-10-26 22:16:47

The pasture bonus is the longer mares are kept in pasture, there is an increased chance of producing a foal on the higher end of their breeding range. The max bonus caps at 30 days in pasture.
For me, it generally means you can get a few more foals that will test superior to their parents.
Mares still train but cannot show. Ammit changed up the bonus so you can remove the mare briefly, but she has to go back into pasture before midnight (or rollover) to keep her bonus. Think of it like Cinderella. You could pull a mare out, enter her, and then pop her back into pasture the same day.
I use pasture for all my lined mares because of the bonus and auto breed feature. I have too many horses to hand breed. Mares live in pasture, studs move in and out to show and also change which stallion I use. Pastures with stallions start autobreeding on the 14th of the month. -
Thank you everybody! This will definitely influence my game strategy. :)
