This time I made sure. Yes, SBA snipped a superior foal.
-
It came out superior, then got snipped by sba. I thought maybe I had made a mistake so i un-altered it and tested it again. Once again it tested superior, then failed sba. I copied the message to the notes. Why? (If needed I will un-alter it and test it again.) I believe it tested superior to the mare, if that makes a difference.

The sire is a **star and the dam is a *gold, so even though this filly is better than her dam, she's not good enough compared to her sire to pass SBA.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

So I need to use a 1-star sire if I want a foal to pass? Or at least have a chance of passing?
-
Before you did not ask about a superior foal. You asked about best-in-pasture foals. This mare had no chance of passing SBA because she is inferior to her sire.Post edited by Ammit at 2023-11-19 17:37:12Need to contact me? Read this first.

If the parents are closer to each other, yes you have a better chance of getting sbaThanked by 1OopsDotCom

If I'm understanding right, SBA tests against both parents but comparison tests only the same gender parent?

Thanks. So, why bother with comparison then? Unless it's stricter?Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2023-11-20 20:57:29

Comparison testing is best used to compare siblings.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I really dont understand why you are comp testing before you SBA test? if the foal doesnt pass SBA , I Personally would like to know this before I spend 4 or 8k HB's on additional testing? Not trying to be mean or anything, just trying to wrap my head around not using the free tests first?

No, Anni, I simply wasn't paying attention. Normally I SBA them, and then only comparison if they pass SAB. This time for some reason I did it the wrong way around. Thank you for the reminder.
Thank you Ammit, that makes sense.
