I want to send some straws to my GE giftee. They have 2 genes that they want. Will they be able to receive them? I think to actually give them the license I have to send a horse with those genes?

And, is Ice 19 the one that doesn't need a license?

They need to have the licenses before you send the straws. You can buy just the gene licenses on the rare genes page.

Thanks, but I can't afford real cash. I thought the licenses went with the horse in the GE

The license will only transfer if you’re gifting a foundation horse with the licensed gene on it. It doesn’t work that way for straws and eggs, or lined horses. The Gift Exchange page clarifies this.

Ice 1, 5, and 8 don’t require a license. All other ice genes do.
