Getting from one star to two
-
I've been here for almost 2 years. Along the way, I have acquired era 0 horses, who, when bred, occasionally produce two star viable offspring.
Slowly, I am breeding my own lines and more and more, I am getting viable one star foals, (yay!) but they are usually as good as their parents. It feels unattainable to get from one star to two without help (boosting or maxing) can any of you oldtimers weigh in on this?
So far, this has not happened for me, thanks -
I get ** Star and Gold around my 6th to 7th generation. I breed from exceptional foundations, superior every generation. 4th gens are all *Star and *Gold.
Edited to add that I only use pastures.Post edited by Humboldt at 2023-12-12 11:01:08Thanked by 1Fiddler -
You for sure don't need to boost or max. If your lines won't progress it is normally because you don't cull your mares hard enough and end up with mare lag. It gets harder to advance as you get closer to cap so you need to get more and more strict with what you keep for breeding. It is also a numbers game. Either mass flushing so you can get lots of chances or 30 day pasture bonus so you can get your best odds can really help get a good foal. Expect much lower rates of superior horses at higher levels though.Need to contact me? Read this first.

To add to what Humboldt said **star by 6th gen from normal foundations is possible without any maxing or boosting. It is easier to get by maxing and if you don't get good enough horses for every single generation then it is possible to get to 5th gen with horses who can't possibly produce ** quality. By 7th gen ** is very obtainable from non-boosted and non-maxed stock if you only kept superior mares and stallions for the whole pedigree. If you are at 8th and 9th gen with no ** then you have a culling problem. This is not a good or bad thing, breed how you want, but if you are looking for those ** papers and not getting them take a hard look at what you are keeping in your herd.Need to contact me?
