Mystery at the North Pole Prologue
-
“Luna! Luna!”
“Oh, hi Buddy! What’s up?”
“Father Time asked me to come get you. He said something about needing our help to fix his hourglass!”, Buddy explained while jumping up and down in excitement.
That was odd.”Huh? Why would he need my help?”
“He said something about your magical fire being better than regular fire to fix the crack in the glass-“
I immediately cut Buddy off. “Wait, what?! The hourglass is cracked?!”
“Uh, is that bad?”
I just stared at him. “Yes Buddy, that’s very bad. If any of those grains of sand escape through the crack, it could alter time! Come on, we’ve gotta go. I’ll teleport us there so we get there quickly.”
“Okay!”
One teleportation later…
Father Time looked up in surprise as Buddy and I appeared in his living room. He was sitting in a chair holding the cracked hourglass . “Ah, Luna! Thank you for coming!”
“Father Time, what happened? How did your hourglass get cracked?!”
Father Time suddenly blushed and looked quite sheepish. “Ah, well, um… I may have accidentally hit my hourglass instead of my alarm clock this morning…”
Buddy jumped in before I had a chance to say anything. “Huh? If that hourglass is as important as Luna says it is, why don’t you keep it somewhere safe? Even I know that!”
Father Time shot Buddy an annoyed look. “This was literally the one time that I didn’t put it back in the safe after checking it like I do every night. Regardless, we need to fix this crack before any sand escapes. That’s where you come in, Luna. Your magical fire should work more quickly than normal fire.”
“Uh, okay. You know I’ve never done glasswork before, right?”
“Ah, don’t worry about that, I have a special lens that I’ll use to focus your fire on only the crack in the glass.”
I had a bad feeling about this. “Alright. Let’s try it.”
We started fixing the crack and everything was going great. Until it wasn’t.
Just as we were about to complete the repair, three grains of sand escaped through the last millimeter of the crack.
Now, of all the many magical beings that I know, Father Time is undoubtedly the most eloquent. You can therefore understand my extreme alarm when he started cursing.
Before he could explain what was happening, my vision went white and I lost consciousness.
An unknown period of time later…
Ugh, my head hurt. I slowly sat up since I was in my human form and saw Buddy and Father Time doing the same.
Father Time suddenly spoke. “Oh no. Luna, Buddy, those three grains of sand that escaped sent us back about three years in time. We’re at the North Pole about a day before the fiasco with Frosty. I can fix this and get us back to our time, but it will take me about a week. Until then, we have to keep everything as similar as possible to what originally happened three years ago.”
I stared at him. “So what you’re telling me is that we all have to go through that insanity AGAIN?! It was bad enough the first time!”
“I’m sorry, Luna, but yes, we have to do it again.”
“Uh, Father Time?”
“Yes, Buddy?”
“There’s a problem with that. Luna’s magical horses didn’t come with us. They’re not like the rest of the magical beings. They can’t break the laws of the universe like we can, so they wouldn’t be able to be here, right?”
“Oh dear, you’re quite right Buddy. Luna, do you have any ideas? We have to have your magic horses for this. If they are different than the original ones, I should be able to keep that from altering our timeline, but to not have them at all would be too much of a change for me to stop.”
“I do have Oasis’ daughter that I could teleport here with us. She knows every word of the original story and can help make sure that everything goes right and find some magical horses in this period of time that would function like the original clue horses without changing too much.”
“Alright, then we’ll do that. Luna, the contest doesn’t start until tomorrow evening in this timeline, so we’ll have to wait until then. Also, we CANNOT let anyone know that we aren’t from this timeline. That could create a horrible paradox that would be nearly impossible for me to fix.”
Well, here we go again. I’ll see you all tomorrow evening, but remember, none of you can acknowledge that I’m from the future once the contest starts! We have to act like we don’t know what is going to happen so we don’t mess up time.Post edited by Nightphoenix at 2023-12-18 19:20:14I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. Hi guys, slight problem. Father Time forgot to tell me that bringing my horse into the past would turn the clock back a day. While you are currently in December 19th, 2023, I am in December 18th, 2020. I am so sorry, but I cannot post the contest until it is December 19th on my end, but I promise that it will be posted as soon as possible tomorrow. Ugh, this is why I don’t like dealing with chronological and spacial magic. My fire magic is so much simpler…I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me!Thanked by 1annismyrph
