Advice for breeding
-
I'm clearly still a young one in the game, (not IRL)and I'm still having serious breeding disasters; i spent an hour picking "the right" stud for a pasture full of * mares, for example and all the foals weren't good enough. The sire was too good for the mares. He was a single star.. similar generations...
All my horses are not clean generations so there's that.
Thanks for your wisdom.

The mares were all Gold * ? what generation was he? and the mares? I have noticed after Gen5 the "Keepers" Decrease significantly, and continue to decrease as the Generations go up. My Gen9 mostly test AGA and are **Start and **Gold so , i assume they are at cap. Maybe thats what is happening here ? Have you tried boosting or maxing one of the AGA foals to see if it then tests SUP?Post edited by annismyrph at 2024-03-08 10:41:28

I did unspay one filly and maxed her. I couldn't not have ANY from a 30 horse pasture.
They were mostly around Gen 4. I might have overdone it by using him because he'd been maxed but nary a one was 2 stars. -
Always link the horses, please. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.

Just to give you an example ; I bred 320 5th generation pasture ( the mares and stallions were 4g blue or A papered ) foals, and between the culling for papers ( MUST be gold or star ) and culling for color ( MUST be Blue Roan Snowflake appies { Colts must be HOM Snowflake Mares can be Het} ) , I now have 28 foals to comp test.

@Fiddler , did all these mares test SUP to parent? I noticed alot of them are not evenly bred ( which is OK ) but looking at their pedigrees , they look like "low" Gold mares for the most part and Riptide is a mid range Star stallion. I d breed him again to some other gold mares and see if the same results happen.

they probably did not all test superior. The older mares are from before i started checking.
They are low gold and i figured he was a step above. I guess too many steps above though, and i misspoke, he wasn't maxed. So i thought it would be a good fit. -
@annismyrph if you bred two 1 star horses and got a two star foal which also tested as good as the mother, would you use it in your breeding program?

The stallion is a high star and the mares I looked at were all very low golds. So combo of the unevenness and bad luck I think.Need to contact me? Read this first.
