Looking For A Lone Stud For Next Season
-
Hi all - Im having fun with a lovely stud who I dont own but has been given to me on Loan, He's full of lovely genes I wouldnt usually pick and throwing some beautiful foals but is due to go back after next season, so I thought I'd see if theres another stud out there thats languishing in a stable that someone would be happy to Loan out for a couple of seasons? I dont have many fancy genes and to be honest would rather they are just generally available genes with no license required.
2nd Gen only please. The only other thing I'd really like is that he's heavy boned as I breed cobs and draughts but I'd look at medium weight too and probably have fun throwing the dice as to how many heavies come out of the fields! -
It's actually against the rules to loan horses to another person because of the risks of problems that arise from that (horses lost, accidentally altered, person not logging back in etc.) What that means in practice is that it is 100% ok to sell someone a stud with a plan to buy it back after a certain period, but I won't get involved to fix things if something goes wrong. It's very much a do-at-your-own risk with no backup sort of thing and I strongly suggest not doing it with any horse you would be gutted to lose.
I always suggest selling a horse for a price you would be willing to lose it for, and buying it back for the same amount afterwards.Post edited by Ammit at 2024-04-19 04:29:10Need to contact me? Read this first.

I switched to only era breeding, so I have a bunch of boys just sitting around gathering dust. Do any of these guys appeal to you?

My apologies, I didn't realize it was not allowed. But it is a horse I was willing to take the "risk" with - an older stallion I wasn't using any longer and had no intention of. My only ask was that he come back to me if rollover doesn't take him, and even then it's not something I would fuss about.
That said, I do have this boy I wouldn't be concerned about also selling for 1hb and potentially buying back for that later if he makes it to 20. He got replaced by a brother I liked better for what I wanted.

Loaning horses is like loaning money to family and friends. Nice if you get paid back, but don't loan anything you can't afford to lose. As long as that is the attitude it should prevent 95% of problems.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't do it with any horses I couldn't stand to lose. Just ones I'm finished with who are collecting dust - it makes me happy that they can make someone else happy instead. :)

I feel the sane way as @Aidendale, I have so many stud colts gathering dust ... if they worked for someone else I d be happy to send them along :)Thanked by 1Aidendale

I'm so sorry I didnt mean to break any rules.
I've just really enjoyed having this boy whose only ask was to return him if he didnt age out. Which of course Im happy to do. I agree it is a risk and I can see why its against the rules. So if anybody has a boy they would like to sell me for a minimal amount of HB with the possibility of returning him if he doesnt age out or when he's done his job I'd be grateful.
@Aidendale - I believe its one of your boys I have at the moment and his babies are gorgeous! I'd be very happy to take your other boy as well if thats ok?
