Need your feedback on the Dutch Warmblood BC
-
We are ready for feedback on our next BC. This time it is the Dutch Warmblood. Please let us know any issues with the line art you spot that need addressing.
-Please do not post photos here. We have found photos during the feedback phase unhelpful at best and downright confusing at worst.
-You are always welcome to edit, draw on, mark up, or otherwise alter the below images in any way you want to more clearly show your feedback.
-Please be very clear and explicit with your feedback. Saying "The leg looks odd" is completely unhelpful, and expects us to be mindreaders. Good feedback looks like "The front near side leg on the adult bows out at the cannon bone" We need to know which image, which part specificity, and what you think does not look right.
These posts normally run for about 24 hours. Thank you so much for your help.

I can see them now! :x
Unsure if this is what you're looking for, but for me the far side rear hoof on the adult is not flat on the bottom. The foal far side front pastern has a lump between it and the hoof. :\"> My brain is stuck on those.Post edited by bluchrystals at 2024-06-04 04:45:53 -
I think the front of the knee joint is too pronounced and almost looked OATK. I'd like to see the knee a little flatter, without such a harsh angle into the cannon bone. Otherwise, I love it. I really love the button braid mane! The foal looks great to me.Formerly OscarWildin

In most pictures I have seen the knee is almost flat to the cannon bone, so I agree with WitchwaterAcres, it seems Too pronounced
-
Some more pronouncement on the back of the knee into the suspensory ligaments might look better, but based on pictures of the breed and most Warmbloods, I feel like the front of the knee is usually flat.Formerly OscarWildin

Agree it almost looks OATK, love the head and neck, at first glance I thought it could perhaps have a stronger looking hindquarter (more muscled), but looking again maybe not. :x love it!
-
I LOVE the head and neck it looks so elegant and just perfect! From my image research comparing the breed, to me their hindquarters tend to look slightly squarer, with a larger muscle behind their front legs and a sharper angle from their back to withers. I did a slight edit to the line art to help me see the edits better!

Oh he fancy! I love it!
I agree about the knees— it looks very back at the knee. I’d definitely straighten the front leg. I think doing that and making the knee joint itself just slightly would give what both servers are thinking. Personally, I have no issue with the size of the knee itself, just that it’s very back at the knee. (Which, granted, is common on real horses) -
I'm really looking forward to this one. It looks great. The first thing that jumped out at me though was that the stifle looks too long. I made some edits, mostly tucked in the flank a little, flattened the rump a little more to move the point of the hip, and moved the chest up a little where it goes between the legs.
PS: I wish we could post photos. I saved one months ago that I thought would be perfect to share when the Dutch Warmblood came around. :)Thanked by 1MackZ -
So I drew the curved arrows to show you where and why I'm making the suggestion. The forelegs are giving this strange curved bend, and are missing some important anatomy details such as an Elbow and the Lateral Ulnar Muscle (# 17 in this photo). And then the barrel of the horse are 2 very different shapes fighting against one another. Depending on the % of Thoroughbred in the horse, the barrel (I wont get into long anatomy names here LOL) will slope up gradually. More TB you may see a sharper angle, but it should still flow together. -
So far, so good!

I can't think of a thing at the moment, the foal looks great,, I don't know what type of Dutch warmblood you are trying for, the adult could use a bit more muscle around the haunches, they look weak. Head and neck looks great.Bluegrass id:182429
