    About as good as does not mean the same as. They were not cap quality so they did not pass SBA.

    From what I understood comparing them to a cap horse was the best indicator of Excellence. But they still didn't make it. Am I missing something?
    I'm now not confident that those that I thought were cap are not.

    I think you may be misunderstanding what comparison testing tells you. It does not tell you if two horses have exactly the same ability. It tells you only if they are about as good as one another.

    *** horses will never produce foals that pass SBA unless those foals are explicitly cap breeding quality. Close is not good enough to pass.
