I can't find the one I should have got yesterday. I don't know if I didn't get one or moved him/her without checking for candies first, and don't know how to search.

There's a link to turn them in is all I see. I want to do a search excluding a certain barn, the same way we can search other horses, to find a missing one that I didn't put in the Candy Pony barn. What am I not seeing?

If you want to see what candy ponies you own the only way is to use the link I mentioned above, or label them yourself somehow and search that way.

I've put "Candy" in their names, but several I forgot about the candy ponies and moved to other barns and can't find them again.

I know this is a time consuming method, but you could always look through the pictures by going through the "view, filter and select" search on each barn until you find them.

If you search all your horses, filter to foundation, start at the end and go backwards. It will show the newly created horses at the very end of the search.
