New member looking to buy

Hello, l am a new member looking to buy decent breedable mares and a few studs. l have tried bidding in the public auction but no bids have been made and l haven't been able to figure out how to place the first bid. l don't have a lot of money but l'm trying to get a start. Any advice is welcome.

The public auction runs on tuesday, thursday and sunday. I don't remember the times, but they are stated on the page of the Public Auction House :) What are you looking for?ID 195859

Hi and welcome : ) It would be helpful to have a little more info about your breeding goals / what you're looking to accomplish so we can help in ways that will get you where you're interested in going. For example... Are you looking to start with Foundations? Or do you want lined horses to breed a show string from so you can increase your income? Do you have particular colours or patterns you'd like to incorporate? Colours/patterns you'd like to avoid? Etc.~olas~

Another good way to start out is by visiting the Foundation Rescue, owner #13. All the horses there are perfect foundations, as good as foundations can be without being exceptional in some way. They have 100% breeding ability, 100% showing ability, and are perfectly consistent in their show scores each week. They will add 3 points to their score with each training on a regular basis. Their PT score will be 9.9, and they will level off in training when they are 9 years old.
Check to be sure they haven't been bred this game year, if you want them for breeding right away, and that the mares are at least 4 and stallions 3. Many of them will be chestnut or bay, but other colors and some patterns can be found, especially the day after a public auction runs.Thanked by 1Redbud -
The auction runs from 6AM to 8AM only Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays so you'll have to wait until tomorrow to get a horse from there. :) However, one of the best places to get some good stock when you are starting out is from the foundation rescue. You may not find many flashy colors but all horses from them are both good showers and good breeders, and they cost $2500 which is actually $100 less than you can get a horse from auction. To browse these horses, just type "13" in the "owner ID" slot in the Horse Search engine.
Another option is to create your own horses. These aren't always guaranteed to be good quality, but you can use "Herd Helpers" such as "Perfect Foundations" or "Exceptional Show Horses" to get good show horses that are also usually good at breeding as well. Every player gets a new Herd Helper each day and since many of us share them with other players via the Herd Helper board here in the forum, you can sometimes pick up different ones there. (Note: Each Herd Helper is only good for a max of 24 hours and can only be shared with a specified number of players)
Just a couple hints for a good way to get some better quality horses starting out. I'm sure others can give a more complete tutorial, but this should at least get you going. :) -
Wow, people were busy while I was typing! That's what I get for multi-tasking

Thank you for all the responses. To say that l don't know what route l should take is slightly embarrassing. I would like to turn a profit at some point. I know l have a long way to go and l know if ya'll looked at what l have now you might just laugh.

We all started out in the same situation. There is no rush to figure out what you want to breed for. Take your time learning the game, and deciding what you want. Some people change their minds about their breeding goals frequently, or breed a little of everything (which eventually results in a huge stable bringing in lots of showing bonus hajibucks).Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

Great advice :)
