Where to start?
-
I'm not sure where to start.
I've been around a long time, but I have been inactive for the past few years ever since my long time horse friend quit this game. I don't remember her game name anymore, but I still talk to her irl. We've known each other over 25 years by now.
Basically I was struggling with this game ever since breeding season got shortened to 1 month instead of two due to how busy I was irl. I just didn't have the time commitment.
Anyway, I'm not sure how many of y'all remember me by now hahah.
I've had a lot of changes in my life now. My mom died in 2020 due to pneumonia. I had to flee my old life in Florida due to domestic violence and moved to New Hampshire just over 2 years ago. Living with a friend didn't work out due to her daughter's mental health issues, so my daughter and I were homeless for the better part of a year. We finally moved into subsidized housing this past May. So we're doing okay. We have a roof over our heads, we have food on the table, and the car's luckily doing ok after about $1,400 worth of repairs in the past year due to a malfunctioning ABS electronic module and a broken sway bar link. Fortunately, I was able to get help with the repair bill for the broken ABS module.
I just haven't been able to find work that will fit me yet. New Hampshire is mostly rural, and thus, not exactly friendly for disabled people to live in due to lack of appropriate services and whatnot in smaller towns and villages.
I'm trying to figure out how to return to this game and get active, I know there's a lot of changes now. -
Welcome back to the game. I can't really give you a step by step as to where to start, but there are some resources in the FAQs https://bluegrass.horsegeneticsgame.com/faq.php and Wiki https://wiki.horsegeneticsgame.com/
It might be better if you ask specific questions here, or join the discord server to have a better chance of getting questions answered in time. -
Welcome back. I don’t know you because I haven’t been around very long but this is a great way to get away from reality for a while, a nice place for me anyway. If you need some horses or hbs, people will probably help you

Welcome back!! I remember your game name, so I must have been around when you were playing back then! Biggest changes to game play are probably the Eras, and trying to winning gmts in all the various LB clubs. You can now implant embryos into pasture recipient mares and get a 45% boost to possible quality of the foal. Makes AI breeding much less frustrating! Lots of recent talks on the LBs and making them fair for all. The new eras are for anyone new can still come on and be competitive. There are futurities as well, so best foals and the sires of those foals bred to outside mares, they are quite fun as have to work with others.
Visually lots has changed too, new genes, and expression of old genes, breed characteristics so your horses can look like others breeds, but still breed as normal, heaps of new backgrounds and RS herd helpers, gold tokens to buy various things. All sorts of stuff lol!
Have fun, and if you need help with anything specific just ask! -
Welcome back! I have lived in NH most of my life. It's unique, in southern NH you are close to everything - but the further north it does become less convenient - but it's so pretty.
Get started with building up show horses to start earning you money. -
I've been on here for 15 years so I definitely know you! I also struggled when we moved to one month per game year. I'm sure you also shared some of what you have been through on here because it sounded familiar. Probably the best thing about this game is that it is still a very friendly and supportive community. We also have Discord now which is a great place to share either game chatter or real life stuff.
In terms of playing HGG (formerly HAJ) there is so much going on now that I would do what Humboldt suggested and get a herd of show ponies going while you decide what you would like to breed for. Then, as I'm sure you remember, if you ask questions someone (or lots of someones) will be sure to come up with an answer for you.
We are here for you. >:D< -
You are well remembered and I am glad to see you back. So glad you and lil Ellie are in a more stable place now. :xNeed to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

Welcome back! Like Fiddler, I haven't been here long enough to know you, but it's always nice to be introduced to long-standing players.
In addition to checking the wiki and FAQs and asking specific questions, I also find it helpful to check the "Announcements" portion of the forum for details of changes, as well as looking through the change log for smaller changes that you might not notice immediately.
I'm so sorry to hear that you've had so much rough stuff happening, but I'm glad you were able to get into a safer place. I hope you find what you need soon. You're always welcome to share/vent here. Despite how negative the internet often is, this community is pretty consistently supportive and empathetic. -
Welcome back! I've been around roughly 7/8 years, so I remember seeing your name around :) Glad you're back and seem to be able to settle in somewhere, best of luck to you and your family!
I'd say check out the Change Log, if possible, there's a lot of good info about small and big changes in the game. And check out the member made Wiki! Both are good resources.
If there's anything I can do to help you get your feet wet again let me know! Feel free to PM me with specific questions, or I'll see you around the forums and try to help there too :) We have a wonderful community and are excited to welcome you backPost edited by kgstable at 2025-03-30 14:17:26 -
Yeah, it's funny because I feel like such a noob again. I've had this account since 2010. Thanks for the welcome.
Yeah, Ellie's not so little anymore now lol. She's 10 and in 4th grade now. She's nearly as tall as me now.
Humboldt, I live in the Plymouth area. Not my first choice of where to live, but it was the best opportunity I had at that time to move out of the homeless shelter we were at in Laconia. My therapist wants us to move to the Nashua area. I've applied to appropriate housing there, but the wait list is long. So time will tell what happens. -
welcome back and cant wait to see you become active once more in game273933
