Lethal White
  • I enjoy breeding a lot of colored horses, so I follow the lethal white chart on the Wiki but I notice some horses have W29 or SW1 and I can't seem to find if they are important when crossing in regard to lethal white since they aren't on the chart. (I know SW1 is a splash gene, but unsure about W29 - wiki shows no results)

Also to add, in their genetics testing results. If it doesn't show any possibly lethal kit carriers, for example - only has -/TO but shows "White factor: Extensive" could that still cause a lethal white? To be safe I don't cross Extensive with Extensive or even Large, but I have noticed some have no W20 or SB1 but still have Extensive white and I always wondered if I could still cross them or not?

    Thank you, still learning :)
  • I think W29 is the new gene name for W3. And yes the more the White Factor the higher the chance of having a foal not survive. And W29 is the new gene number for Sabino2
