LB and ELB

After a search to breed one of my studs, I found what I think is a good match. The owner's notes say to breed to EB or ELB potential stallions only. What does that mean?"Time is nothing to a cat when he is dancing." Esther Averill

ELB = Extended Leaderboard.
If you go to the Search Horses page and find Top Stallions under the Advanced Sort function, the LB stallions would be the Top 25. ELB would be any stallions from Top 26-250 basically. Most importantly the mare is likely *Gold quality, and the owner wants you to breed her to a *Star stallion that is producing PTs in the same range as the mare. As an example, if the mare is producing PTs up to 13+, but the stallion hasn't produced anything over 12 PT, they may not be a good match.
Another important thing to remember is crossing generations evenly. Most owners frown upon this as it makes the pedigree of the foal look odd and in many cases the quality of the stallion and mare are no where near comparable. An example would be breeding a foundation stallion to a lined mare with several generations (4g+). It can really drop the average foal PT of the stallion/mare, which many people pay close attention to. I have blocked people who do this consistently when I put horses up for public breeding.
Hope that helps and covers some basic etiquette when it comes to using public broods! :)Imation Stud ID# 2609

Back before Ammit introduced Eras, there were some leaderboards with 25 entries to be found under Leaderboards in the left hand menu bar. That was one set of leaderboards, among them one for each of the 25 top breeding stallions and mares.That was referred to as the LB. Also, on the search page, among the advanced sort options (still there, actually) were Top Stallions and Top Broodmares. There were 250 stallions and 500 hundred mares on these lists. I'm not sure that these are still being used. I think I've seen a post where Ammit said that they were no longer valid. They were referred to as the ELBs.
At any rate, all the stallions on those lists were Star papered and all the mares Gold papered. However, not all the horses with those paperings were on the lists, obviously. There are a number of leaderboards now associated with the eras and colors/patterns of the horses. There are 25 horses on each of those many lists. You can see if a horse has won any trophies or ribbons by checking on their records page. I think those are awarded to the top 10 on each of the many lists. If they have an award for Top Breeding Mare or Top Breeding Stallion for their era, you can be sure they will be of LB or ELB quality if they are papered Gold or Star. You can also check each of the horse's clubs to see if they fall into the top breeding mare or stallion lists for their color or pattern or their era to see if they are among rest of the top 25.
Another way to check out the quality of breeding horses it to check their offspring's PTs. The average foal PT (AFPT) for leaderboard potential horses will probably be over 12. If they are in their first breeding season, then you can check the leaderboard status and/or AFPT of their sire and dam and other recent ancestors.
I hope this has been helpful.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2014-04-15 12:46:38 -
There is no more extended leader board. This person has not kept their notes up to date. It would be best just to contact them. But breeding season closes in about an hour so you may have missed out at this point.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )
