My Little Dilemma
-
I can't decide if I want to make one Hom DFP2 mare, or two Het DFP2 mares.
I have one girl who already has one copy of DFP2 on her, OR I could get another project horse and make that one het DFP2 and then have two het DFP2 mares...but I'm not sure what's better.
Is there a right or wrong decision? What would you do?
Help! :D Thanks! -
I would do Het. You can always spend the 1 gmt to place on the foals if the name doesn't pass it on VS the 30 gmts for the extra DFP2 to put on mare to make her homozygous.Thanked by 1kgstable

For me, it would depend on how many other genes I'm interested in. If I want to add too many to fit on one mare, I might do two het mares and load them both with other genes I like. Otherwise, I would do hom on the one mare so I'm not having to GMT a bunch of otherwise perfect foals each season.
