Even Lines ?
-
Okay please don't get all excited and start picking sides..... Why is it so popular to breed even lines, is it easier to work for better papered horses?
Don't worry all of my breeding stock are evenly lined. Some gelding/spays might be uneven. Feel free to look that my horses they are cute 215251 :) Again just wondering -
It is easier to keep mare and stud quality even. The result is that it is much easier to progress your line. (ie third gens with 12pt)Thanked by 1Abbey98

Now if your end goal is show ponies. It does not matter in the least at all. But if you want breeding stock you will save hbs and time keeping them even. Or at least that is what I think. I like the experiment that SD stables is doing. TO be perfectly nit picky not all of my lines are 'even' to everyone's standards. This is because I breed 5% boosted stally to expro mares. That 5% boosted stally has an entire generation of improvement over the expro mares. I get more show ponies this way though. Which is just fine by me :DThanked by 1Abbey98

It's easier to keep mare and stallion quality equal as Redbud said, and people just like the way it looks on the pedigree. Neater looking.
You're more likely to get spayed and gelded horses out of uneven lines, the more uneven, the more likely they are to be a show horse. Having said that, you can get some awesome show horses that way. -
Oh okay I see. Thank you. This game is so in depth.

The people going around blocking others just because they are breeding uneven (thankfully very rare) or buying and yumming horses just because they are uneven are being jerks. I honestly even think the stud rules saying breed only to x generation mares are being a little silly. Don't put a stud for public if you care. It doesn't effect the stud any but to each their own.
There is very good reasons why even horses are more valuable. They are easier to work with with breeding, they look better etc. But just because they are nicer horses does not mean people should be rude about it.Post edited by Ammit at 2015-07-29 14:19:27Need to contact me? Read this first.
