3G woes...
  • So I have my first lot of homebred 3Gs to breed next season.

I'm pretty happy with the fillies quality level I think being out of blue papered mares and by champion breeders club stallions...

The Colts however I'm not sure! Is it unrealistic to expect 3G Colts to be star papered??? They are superior to their top of the breeders clubs sire who was superior to his boosted exceptional sire.... BUT they are all As! Not a star in sight....thoughts?
  • Unless you are boosting a bunch, it is not unexpected to have A's in your 3rd generation
  • I only boosted my original foundation stallion, none of the mares are boosted. All stocked is from or by Ex pros.

So I'm going ok? This is one of my 3G Colts if it helps....

  • You are doing fine :-) I only want to be sure the colt is superior to sire to go forward.

  • There's a fairly broad range included in the A papering. I seem to remember that someone found that they had at least 3 levels of A studs--each of them successively superior to their sires. That is, the first A was superior to a B papered sire, his superior son also papered A, and that one's superior son also papered A. This was fairly early after Ammit readjusted the papering standards. Star's include an even broader range, since that's top of the line and their abilities really cover a lot of ground.
