What are you goals for breeding?
-
Hello all,
I was just curious as to who has what goals in breeding. For example my goal is to get the highest performance points possible and also throw in some beautiful colored foals with rare genes.
What is your goals?
Thanks so much,
Pickabreed -
My goal is to producing quality white black sabino frame horses, from A papered foundations. I also strive for a PT scores in the 13's and hopefully a 14 pt someday.
-
I breed for quality sooty (S+) sabino ponies. I have a flaxen chestnut with DP line, and a brown with GP line. I also have two minor lines - satin (an offshoot of my chestnuts) and high PT (remaining from my original days before I settled into my color goals).
All stallions must be superior to their sires, and about as good as my benchmark stallion for their generation.
Mares must paper according to their generation. My current rules are Red/Blue for 2nd, Blue for 3rd, and Gold by 5th. I use mostly pasture breeding and Exceptional foundation horses so I probably could tighten that down further.Bluegrass #143376 * Specializing in Iced Axiom (ExPro Cobs) and Iced Phantoms (PF Riding Ponies)

My goals are for certain colors with ability.
I am only on my first breeding season. I have an era 4 chestnut splash line, and a black based line starting. I also have an era 5 red Dun, blue roan, red roan and black line. I might merge the two blacks depending on what is produced.
I might throw in some silver or liver. I am also thinking of gelding my standing stallions after this season. All my stallions are perfect, exceptional or rescue.
I make myself and my these rules:
All colts must be as good as the 'best' of their generation (excluding exp foals, they must be better than sire) All fillies must past strict mare testing.
For space requirements all gelded or spayed foals with a PT score below 9.5 are sold at auction along with their dam. Since they didn't pass the breeding quaily tests, this means their showing ability is better than the breeding ability and with it being lower, I don't want to take a chance. Breeding stock can go lower.
That's probally more than what you wanted to know :) -
I want as fancy/weird colors as possible but with actual real colors, limited sb3 and w3/4. Also high showing quality. And mostly W2.
I really don't have solid goals besides PRETTY!Thanked by 1Cutthroat Basin -
I guess my goal is to get my bonus up there so I can start saving up IV's for bigger barns. I have a few other rare breeding goals... but again that circles around the bonus. While I do that though I'm always on the look out for the pretty.

Ice Appys, Dappled anything, and getting show string so I can earn hbs for more barns.I breed Drafts and star horses :D

My goals are to take my own sabino line as far as i can producing high PT's to go into my show string, and eventually take the place of my old lined herd. I'd love to see one of my own stallions sitting top of the performance leaderboard.
I also have a few super shiny lines that i breed when i feel like it. -
My goal is to have fun. :)

I try to keep my goals simple. I work for improved quality each generation and that's all. I have some LE genes that I like to try and keep in certain colors but isn't as important to me as breeding ability.

First and foremost. RED. I've chased the classic chestnuts before the DP ponies came out. I love DP too, but it's the deep red ponies that I love. I started a E* aa line (blacks and the like) as well as a E* A* line (bays and browns and such) I can't keep single lines of duns, champagnes, etc so I just group them by Black, Agouti, and Red. lol There is a line I have when I first started that I call "confetti" that is just awesome horses regardless of color. I'm pretty strict on culling and I keep a comparatively small barn of just under 3,000 ponies so successes are slower to come by but that makes them all the sweeter. :D It's my stress reliever from school, kids and life in general. I can't have real ponies so I play with pixels!Thanked by 1Corvus
