    So, what exactly is a foundie mare? Is it a mare that is just bred from foundation stock?

    You are correct. A foundation is any horse that has been created, through herd helpers, or means of the create a horse link. They show as having foundation parents in their pedigree. Lined horses have a pedigree of game horses.
