Silly question...
-
Will a foal that papered B, passed SAT, and is Consistent get snipped if his sire papered C? Is there any kind of guarantee that a higher-than-sire-papered foal won't be snipped?
Because I've had foals pass the SAT and then get spayed/gelded at MA/GA respectively.I breed Drafts and star horses :D

I don't believe he would get snipped in GA because he papered higher than his sire. GA and MA test breeding ability (I believe relative to the same gendered parent) whereas SAT tests showing ability relative to breeding ability. C paper level is normal for regular foundation/creates.

GA only gelds colt that have significantly lower breeding ability than their sires, so that colt will definitely pass intact.
It is more economical to do all the free testing first rather than paying for paper testing before GA. Any colt that is snipped by GA wouldn't have papered well (or been fit to breed) anyway.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

The only time I can think of where gelding advice might catch a colt that was better than his sire is if he's super inconsistent. Mare advice does that and I'm pretty sure I had a colt get nicked by it once maaany years ago.
Chances are good that he'll get through fine though.
