Eras, Opinions Please
-
I have read the "All About Eras" section of the site, but I am wondering what people's personal opinions are on them. I currently just have Era 5 horses in my herd, and I have been passing up on some very nice other horses because of their Era. Is this a foolish choice? I'm newer so I am not sure what players consider valuable and what they don't.

As far as I know the only reason to worry about eras is if you are breeding to place on the leader board of that specific era. I have horses from all 5 eras and try to breed my mares to stallions of the same or newer era, but to me it's not a big deal. I care more about quality and of course my pet project colors.Thanked by 1Ammit

Another thing to consider, if you decide to chase leaderboard standings: Era 5 has been in place longer than eras 1-4, individually, so there are more foundation horses competing for standings for that era. In addition, foals are placed in the Era of the parent with the oldest (smaller) era number, so breeding era 5 horses to those of earlier eras may increase the offspring's competitive chances for the Era leaderboards.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2015-10-31 05:48:09

That is backwards. Era 5 is the newest era and has the LEAST number of horses. Breeding to a lower era decreases your lb changes not increases it.Post edited by Ammit at 2015-10-31 06:48:58Need to contact me? Read this first.
