Updates and more info on pastures
-
Pasture system is getting closer to finalization now. Here are the changes that have recently gone in.
No public breeding to pastured horses.
No breeding lab breeding of pastured mares.
-Stallions can have straws pulled
-Sales of straws/embryos etc are not effected.
Auto show is now explicitly excluding pastured horses
It has been decided that the longer mares are left in the pasture the better their odds of producing non-dud foals. Foals born in pastures will not be any better then normally produced foals but it will take much fewer tries to get keepers out of them. So if you want to pasture breed this year get those horses in the pasture asap.
Pasture breeding will run a bit later then year since it is the first time out.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Any idea when the goals will come? I did see about two weeks into breeding season, but will we know exactly when at some point? I'm very excited about these babies.

I don't even know exactly when yet.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Will unbred mares placed in pastures remain available on a stallion's drop down "breed to" list? Or will being placed in pasture make them only available to stallion in her pasture? And will mares in pastures be removed from the barn (and it's page) that it used to be in, meaning a stall would the be available?

This post and this one address all your questions.

The whole point of pastures is that you can't use those horses for breeding/showing outside the pasture. They are taken care of automatically and are otherwise out of your way.
If a horse is in a pasture it is not in a barn.Post edited by Ammit at 2014-05-05 06:30:43Need to contact me? Read this first.

Do the "bonuses" for lack of a better term stack year over year, or do they reset each year?

they have a cap. They stop getting any better after a while.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I had read the informational post but just prior to posting here I had mares who had been placed in pastures who were still showing up in their barn and on a non pastured stallions drop down list. I did not realize that it was still being tweaked and wanted to clarify.
im just now trying to finish up putting horses in my empty pastures but now the drop down lists on my phone are blank for both genders. Are pastures unavailable or locked at certain point so that breeding can commence? -
If you have an issue you really need to check on a real computer. If it is a continued problem then report it as a bug. I can not provide support for phones. That said they will appear blank if there is no more horses you can put in there.Need to contact me? Read this first.

How do the pastures work? Is it pretty much like pasture breeding? How do you know if the mare is going to foal?

Check this discussion that announces the new pastures and gives some information about them:

Once Ammit gets the programming finished, all the mares in each pasture will be bred to one of the stallions in the pasture. The usual time frame is planned to be about the second week of breeding season, but it may be longer this year, since so many different pieces of code need to be adjusted. -
A reminder pastures ARE counting how many days a mare is in the pasture for. To get the full bonus you need to put your mare in and leave her there.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I read through the posts but can't figure out how to get the foals out of the pasture. I'm kinda scared to press the X in case that yums them or something. Other than that this pasture deal is awesome!

OK, figured it out. Sorry for the trouble!
