Picking a colt
-
I have many many foals from exceptionals who were sitting in one pasture when I ran another one. Four other ones, actually, all filled with regular creates. Each time, the pasture email identified a different colt from the "exceptional" pasture as the best of the bunch. Does this mean they're essentially equal, and that I could honestly just pick one of them to keep? Or should I comp test them?Post edited by Helia at 2015-12-11 16:37:21

Given the range of possible results from any breeding, there might be a chance that one might comparison test superior to the others. If your bank balance can afford it, you might want to do the testing.Thanked by 1Helia

I breed 1 pasture at a time to avoid that confusion and I make sure there are no stallions in the other pastures and no foals in the other pastures. That way the email is from the pasture I bred.Thanked by 1Helia

Thank you! I didn't have the money to comp test them all against each other, so tested them against a benchmark low A stud. Two tested AGA, and two tested superior. I kept the superior boys intact :)
