My experience with horses in the upper 11.? range, way back when I was showing them manually, was that they gained 5 points per training until they got to be 9 or 10, and then their show score gains slowed down pretty abruptly until it took them weeks and weeks to get through a level, though they didn't "level off" until they were 11 or 12. So I would say that your gelding's performance would be the norm.
