ECA3P+
-
I know PATN1 gives big blanket patterns or full leopard, but what does ECA3P+ give?
I can see that my stallion with ECA3P-PATN1 ECA3P+ has big blanket, but other one with ECA3P+ ECA3P-PATN1 has much smaller pattern.
Could someone explain to me this gene?
Thanks for help.understand the significance of signatures -
You can click on the gene (any gene you want more about!) and it takes you to this page: http://www.huntandjump.com/geneticsguide/?page_id=190
I think it is just the name, similiar like S, which means no shading, or Ssty (=S with a sty mutation) wich means shading or S+ which means darker shading with dapples. So ECA3P+ is/does nothing, and ECA3P-PATN1 means a bigger blanket. Another example is C, C itself does nothing to the horse, but Ccr will dilute it with cream. Ccr Ccr will make a double diluted cream horse (perlino, cremello etc), just like ECA3P-PATN1 ECA3P-PATN1 (homozygous for PATN1) will make a super huge blanket.
So I don't really know how to word it but it is just the gene 'name', and when it has a mutation (for C cr or prl, for S sty or S+ as a mutation and for ECA3P PATN1) it will 'do' something to the coat of the horse.
I'm not that good in explaining things in english but nevertheless I hope I helped you understand it a little bit better xDHJ1 160524

Basically, ECA3P is the name of the gene. The + marks the "wild" or original state of the gene which does not affect the appearance of the horse. The presence of PATN1 shows the presence of a mutation of the gene which increases the size of the blanket. This enlargement is, as are many things in real-life and in the game, somewhat variable, so a single instance of the mutation may result in larger blankets of several sizes. Having the mutation on both alleles, the one from the sire and the one from the dam, will give you a full leopard or almost all white appaloosa. I think this is correct. Ammit will probably come around and straighten me out if it's not. (Thanks, Ammit.)

Hmm. I think I would like to breed a homozygous PATN1.
