Blocking
  • Hey guys! I was just wondering... what exactly happens when you block someone? This breeding season a couple of new members bred unevenly to some of my public broods, despite the fact that I posted breeding rules on the horses' pages. I messaged them on the forum, giving them a couple weeks to yum the foals. I didn't want to block them right away because I know they're new to the game and I might have made the same mistake earlier on when I was new too. Anyway, it's been about a week and a half and no reply, or sign of yumming. So I just want to ask, what happens to those foals when I block the owner?
  • the foals will still be in the game until the owners of them decide to get rid of them.

when you block someone, you stop them from seeing, buying and using your stock. You can still see their stock. They can still use your DHH if you post it publicly.

I cannot remember if they can still bid on horses you put in auction--I really don't use the block feature often and rarely put horses in auction. Maybe someone else can answer this part :)
  • Yes, they can still bid on auction horses, but they can't view the horse directly.
  • that's what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure. Thanks Gael :)
  • Thanks guys! Pheeeeww. I really don't want to block these people :( buuut... weell. Any suggestions on how to deal with it?
  • Honestly, don't tell them to yum the foals. At least let them keep them for show horses. That was probably the most shocking/upsetting thing I heard when I accidentally bred unevenly. " You mean I'm not allowed to keep this horse that I paid for with my hbs? " I didn't really have a problem with gelding/spaying but for someone to tell me to just completely get rid of it, especially when I was just starting out and didn't have a huge showing bonus like the older members, was just irritating. Other than that, patience and acceptance that if it's up for public use, people will use it as they will despite any rules you have. :(

  • To be blunt, I wish people would stop with the rules on horses standing public.

It feels so hostile, particularly when people get messages from others telling them what to do with the horses they rightfully think of as theirs. There is really no nice way to say "Hey, this horse you bred and you own that you really like? You don't know me, but I don't think it's good enough and I want it gone." It's one thing if they've been around half of forever, but new players are not likely to even notice rules in the excitement of trying to breed their pixel ponies, and if they do, may not understand them.

If it really bothers you that much that a horse may have offspring that aren't up to your standards, don't put them public. Just sell straws so you can talk to people about your expectations ahead of time and know that everyone is on the same page before money is spent.

My suggestion on how to deal with it now would be to either offer them a generous price on the horses (most new players would jump at 20 k, most established players can easily afford that much) and then yum the horse yourself, offer them a trade to get it and yum it, or just ignore it and don't stand horses that you're that worried about.

New players have likely bankrupted themselves on a few breedings - it would be flat out crushing to lose a horse when you only have like 10 of them.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions guys :) I did offer to buy the foals back, but I also think that because they're new maybe they don't check they're inbox too often. But weeell, I'm gonna go with just accepting that it was my responsibility for putting them up in the first place :) being super excited to breed at the first season I got to is still fresh in my mind. I admit I was a little too upset for my own good (and not even because of anything in-game; real life issues haha) when I opened this thread. Phew. So thanks for talking sense into me :)
  • Thank you for reconsidering. :D
  • I have messaged people who have used horses of mine to breed foals with seriously uneven pedigrees. I try to be polite and offer to adequately reimburse them if they geld/spay/yum the horse in question. I don't mind them keeping the altered foal.

I don't want anybody to be out of pocket for breeding, so I try to be very generous with any compensation.
