Dappling
  • What explains dappling? Why does it occur?
  • That is the S+ gene at work.

    Examples:

    Dark Bay with StyS genes

The S+ gene is a limited edition gene that is available on certain gene sales.

  • Sorry, i didn't explain. I mean dappling in real life.
  • Dappling in real life has many different causes. Dappling is prominent on some colours; grey being the most commonly associated colour with dapples. The Silver gene is known to product high amount of dappling. The 'Sooty gene' is also known to put dappling onto horses, especially when there is a single cream gene present. Horse health/coat health are also noted for bringing out dappling on horses. However, a horse can certainly be in good health and not have dappling come out, so there are likely other factors at play.
