DP question
-
Has this mare DP?
Do all darker chestnuts or duns with dapples are DP? I have some mares from DHHs such as Homozygous Sooty, Dark Bay Dun etc. and they have dapples.understand the significance of signatures -
Dapples are a random effect in all colors, although I believe they may be more common with Silver. So far as I know, there is no tie with DP.
Your best way to figure it out is to color test her, if you can afford it. If she is homozygous for Ssty, she doesn't have DP. If she is heterozygous Ssty, or homozygous S (non-sooty), then you can assume that she does carry DP.
If she's a lined horse, her parents may help determine the possibility of its presence.
Without a color test, it's impossible to tell, since she's about the color of a homozygous sooty chestnut, as far as I can tell on my computer monitor. -
She is homozygous sooty, but also het brown.understand the significance of signatures
