Uh, if a horse is genetically black, then it is black. Bays and buckskins always have black points. It’s part of the agouti mutation. And every black horse is subject to sun fading.

Yes, yes, and there’s really no guarantee how the leopard complex will express. There’s definitely still some genes we haven’t discovered yet. PATN usually causes the spots, but sometimes a horse without PATN will have a few spots.

I’m still learning about pearl, but I’m pretty sure it only shows in its homozygous form because cream is dominant over it. Edit: Yep, all the pearl horses in her sire line are homozygous pearl, so I’m pretty sure it’s recessive and needs t…

Halo really shows when combined with DP. It gives the spots a “halo”. This boy is a chimera, but you can still see the effect. Oaken Blade 2G

No, it’s a form of sooty that causes dappling. 13643449 Sorry for the W10 in the way, but if you look closely, you can see a dappling pattern that you won’t see in horses without S+.

Take A Wisp 3G Yep, definite difference in phenotype! Hom LP is mostly solid white and doesn’t have many spots. PATN1 affects blanket size. Hom PATN1 usually causes the leopard phenotype.
