I thought I understood how eras worked, but something just happened that's left me scratching my head.

I created this foundation mare yesterday and she is era 5:

And then I created this foundation mare today, but she is only era 4:

I thought that eras broke up foundations into groups that were created within roughly a 6 month period, but then why is the mare who was created a day later from an earlier era than the mare created the day before? I'm totally lost. :p

For every 'generational' increase in quality a foundation will drop an era.

What Redbud is trying to say it that exceptional producing horses will be placed in the era preceding the current one. The first mare is an ordinary create horse and belongs to Era 5; your 2nd mare is an Exceptional Producing Champagne, so she is placed into Era 4.

Speaking of eras, has Ammit ever said when they change? It is NOT at all a priority as I know she's working on other more important things (like image generation) and she has an infant, this is simply curiosity. :)
