I watched the Kentucky Derby yesterday. I'm starting to think that he's a better horse than he looks on paper. He may not have impressive wins, it looks like he does just enough to win and that's all that is really needed. He did chase a hot pace and didn't get cooked.

So does anyone think we might have a shot at the Triple Crown this year? We had American Pharoah last year.

We went 40 years without a triple crown winner, I really doubt we'll have 3 in a row! Big Brown, California Chrome, and I'll Have Another were all impressive horses and all didn't get it, and those are just the 3 in recent memory. I really did like I'll Have Another because his name came from the owner eating cookies....

Nyquist sure is a nice horse, not sure if he'll be able to do it.

I really liked the look of Exaggerator coming down the stretch, he booked it and looked like he would've taken it if the race was a furlong longer.

I think that Exaggerator will be the one to watch for in the Belmont. It is a longer race than The Derby, which is longer than The Preakness. So Nyquist may win the Preakness with no problem, since it is a short run, but he will have a race with Exaggerator in the Belmont.

Yeah, we will just have to wait and see what happens in the Preakness first. One thing I do know is that Exaggerator can stay the Belmont distance since his sire is Curlin. The question is if he wants to.
