Advanced Breeding
  • Can you only use a certain Mare once to create an embryo?
  • That depends how you do it. If you do so via the "create an embryo" screen, then yes, once per season. If you draw an egg first, then create an embryo with the egg, you can go back and draw another egg in five days. . If you do a mass egg pull, she's done for the season, but then you have a handful of eggs to make embryos with.
  • Thank you!
  • I'm sorry for the questions, but is via the game, how many eggs does a mass egg pull create per game year? If you do a mass pull, is it better if she is in pasture for as long as possible before doing the mass "flush" of eggs?
  • Flushing a mare will give you somewhere between 8 and 14 eggs. After you flush her, she is no longer open for breeding. Mares cannot be flushed while they are in pasture, and removing them from the pasture will immediately end any breeding boost that they have gained from being there. The breeding "boost" merely means that the mare's contribution to the ability of her foal will come from closer to the top end of her possible range instead of falling somewhere within the full range.

Breeding two perfect foundations together can result in a foal with a PT anywhere between 8.9 and 10.4, so the potential contribution of a mare outside of a pasture is that broad. After 30 days in pasture, it will be closer to 10.4 than 8.9, but Ammit has not given us the exact number, and I'm sure she isn't going to. A number from the stallion's potential range is randomly selected and one from the mare's potential range is randomly selected, and the two are averaged. This is done for both breeding ability for the foal and showing ability. The latter is the one we can see when we PT test the foal. The breeding ability score is hinted at when we paper a colt, but the approximate ability of a filly isn't known until she has 3 live foals and can be papered. GA and SMA neuter foals that are significantly worse for breeding than the parent of the same gender
